10 Wedding Food Truck Ideas

Food trucks can make a fun addition to any kind of celebration, including weddings.

Of course, they aren’t a typical choice for your wedding day, and they’re usually not a part of a traditional wedding, but if you plan on having a less formal and more casual wedding, having a food truck at your wedding can be a great idea.

They’re fun, a unique experience, and will make your big day memorable for all guests. While they’re different than traditional caterer options, they bring a fun twist.

A lot of food trucks are willing and available to do wedding catering, so you just need to choose and hire a food truck vendor. Of course, you also have to make sure your wedding venue allows it and has the capability to accommodate a food truck.

There are a lot of food truck wedding options to choose from, so I’m sharing a roundup of food truck ideas that will make your big day a unique experience for everyone!

10 Wedding Food Truck Ideas

Appetizer food truck

A fun food truck wedding catering idea you could do is to have an appetizer food truck. Your guests could have a choice between different appetizers, and they can get as much or as little as they want.

Some cute appetizer ideas for a food truck could be crostini, mini sandwiches, mini hot dog buns, and so on.

Taco food truck

Food trucks typically serve tacos, so this is something your guests have probably seen already - but not at a wedding!

Everyone loves tacos, and a taco food truck can be a huge hit at your big day. You can provide your guests with meat options, just like a regular street food truck would have, as well as topping options.

This can be the main dish, or even an appetizer, depending on how you organize the theme.

If you’re having your wedding in Mexico, or somewhere else where tacos are very popular, this would be an even better idea!

Pizza food truck

Who doesn’t love pizza? Wedding or not, no one will say no to a slice (or five) of pizza. First of all, the kids will be happy. If there will be kids at your big day, both they and their parents will love you for serving pizza.

Secondly, this is a great choice for those picky eaters. But truthfully, everyone will love this idea.

You can serve the pizza food truck as the main dish, or maybe an even better idea would be to present it as a late-night snack. When everyone’s already a bit tired from all of the dancing, and they’re starting to get hungry again, you could surprise them with the pizza food truck.

You can offer different kinds of pizzas to accommodate everyone’s taste - regular cheese pizza, pepperoni pizza, veggie pizza, mushroom pizza, and you can even do vegan pizza if there are vegan guests.

Burger food truck

For the main dish, an amazing idea would be to do burger food trucks. You can either go the fancy route, and serve gourmet burgers, which aren’t normally seen in a food truck, or you can do the standard street-style smashed burgers.

Your guests can have pre-planned topping options, or they can choose them themselves.

This is a great idea because you can decide how fancy or casual you want the food to be.

Pasta food truck

Pasta isn’t the most typical food truck option, but it would make so much sense for a wedding! First of all, pasta is usually a sit-down meal, so a pasta food truck combines the more traditional food option, with the less traditional presentation - a food truck.

Another reason why I think this is an amazing idea for a wedding, is the ability to accommodate everyone’s taste.

You could go with two routes. One option is to choose a few types of pasta dishes (penne a la vodka, mushroom tagliatelle, pesto fusilli, etc.), and offer those options to your guests. Another option is to choose multiple pasta shapes (spaghetti, fusilli, macaroni, gnocchi, penne, tortellini, tagliatelle, etc.), choose multiple sauces (alfredo sauce, red sauce, cheese sauce, pesto sauce, mushroom sauce, etc.), and choose a few protein options that can be grilled (chicken, shrimp, etc.) and your guests can mix and match and make their ideal pasta dishes themselves.

I think it’s such a fun and unique idea, and your guests will adore it. Who doesn’t love pasta, right?

Panini food truck

A panini food truck can work for many things - it can be an appetizer food truck, a main dish with some fancy panini options, or even a late-night snack (like pizza).

The good thing about it is that paninis are so versatile, and you can provide tons of options for your guests - both pre-decided options, or the ability to make their own.

Shellfish food truck

If you’re having a summer wedding, especially if it’s on the coast, a shellfish food truck can be a fun idea! You can serve lobster rolls, clams, and more. Just make sure to check if your guests are allergic. This might work better if you know your guests are fans of seafood and you know none of them are allergic.

Muffin food truck

Now it’s time to talk about dessert food trucks! Of course, you’ll have your wedding cake. But, you can also have a dessert food truck on the side, so people can have more dessert options.

And what better to serve than fresh and warm muffins? You can have lots of different muffin choices for your guests, and they’ll love them!

Cookie food truck

Another amazing dessert food truck idea is to have a cookie food truck. Not only will the kids love it, but adults as well!

You can do gourmet cookies or just regular ones. You can also provide multiple options - triple choco cookies, red velvet cookies, chocolate chip cookies, and so on.

A cookie food truck could also work as a sweet late-night snack.

Ice cream food truck

Finally, how can we talk about food trucks, and not include an ice cream food truck? If your wedding is during summer, what better dessert to serve than ice cream? Your guests can cool down a bit, and enjoy their favorite ice cream flavors.

You can do fancy flavors, or keep it simple.

Another fun variation you could do is to provide ice cream sandwich options!
